Location: BARAZANI.berlin , Spreeufer 6, 10178 Berlin
Language: German spoken language. If necessary, you can switch to English or Spanish.
This series of workshops is aimed specifically at people whose parents or grandparents immigrated to Germany and who have themselves experienced racism. I would like to invite you to talk to a person from your family* about the topics of migration and origin and to start a writing process in response to this.
*(I understand family in a broader sense, which according to a queer understanding also includes 'chosen families'.)
Over the course of the four sessions, we will use these conversations as a starting point to explore our own post-migrant stories. Together, we will develop these stories further using various writing methods in the group, such as autoethnographic writing, free writing, Shitty Draft First, and techniques for fictionalization. In this way, we can delve into a process together that will also help us overcome writer's block. It doesn't matter whether you already have writing experience or not; what is important is our stories and experiences. As a group, we can support each other in the process. On the last day, we will bind a small book together in which we collect our texts, and each person can take a copy home.
Workshop:
Tuesday, September 3rd | 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Getting Ready: Arriving and getting to know writing methods
Tuesday, September 10th | 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Sharing and Transforming Texts: Reading, Editing, and Fictionalizing Together
Wednesday, September 11th | 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Finishing and finding a settlement
Tuesday, September 17th | 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Binding individual sheets into a book
