BARAZANI DINNER TABLE allows us to sit together, to witness our worlds and our knowledges. We offer food for the belly and brain and invite friends, neighbors, and community members to share words, thoughts, and space.
This time we dedicate ourselves to literature and have invited Celina Baljeet Basra with her wonderful novel HAPPY. The young Happy, a cinephile boy full of big dreams, leaves his village in Punjab, India, to go to Europe. He wants to become an actor and finds himself in the exploitative food industry. After a reading, curator and BARAZANI member Isabel Raabe will discuss with Celina Baljeet Basra. And there will be food that will change your taste buds forever :-)
Celina Baljeet Basra is a writer and cultural worker based in Berlin. She currently works with Talking Objects Lab, and most recently co-curated the series La Palabre together with Isabel Raabe. Celina has been Curator of the Berlin art space Galerie im Turm, and has worked in the catalogue and mediation team of the 10th Berlin Biennale, amongst others. She graduated in Art History in a Global Context and is part of the curatorial collective The Department of Love. Her first novel HAPPY (2023) deals with migrant labor in the food industry in the South of Europe.
